VARIABLE SPEED COMPRESSION

For many years, research has suggested that people with hearing loss might benefit from either fast or slow compression depending on their cognitive status. A Variable Speed Compressor (VSC) allows for optimal speech understanding for people from all cognitive backgrounds.

MORE FLEXIBILITY FOR DIVERSE SOUND ENVIRONMENTS

Variable Speed Compressors (VSC) allow for the use of both fast-acting and slow-acting compression in the same hearing aid. Which compression dominates depends on the listening situation. In a Widex VSC system, there are two compressors in each channel—a slow-acting compressor and a fast-acting compressor. They work in parallel to determine the final output from each channel. The VSC also helps with rapid gain change from a sudden loud noise.

For your clients, hearing aids with a VSC make softer sounds more audible and loud sounds more natural. The VSC also makes it easier to understand speech in noise and creates overall better sound quality.
