How Compass Cloud 2.0 Helps Florida Practice

At ENT and Allergy Associates of Florida, Kim Doucett and Lauren Yanchitis, work in fast-paced practices. Appointments often last 20 to 30 minutes, making an efficient and reliable fitting workflow essential.

They began using Widex Compass Cloud™ near its initial launch in 2025 and approached the cloud-based experience with questions. Some familiar tools were still being introduced, and the streamlined workflow felt different. Once they began fitting patients, the platform quickly earned their confidence.

A 15-Minute First Fit That Reset Expectations

Kim still remembers her first Compass Cloud fitting with a new patient. It took approximately 15 minutes.

“I texted our Widex representative and asked, ‘What did I do wrong? What did I miss?’” Kim recalled. “She told me, ‘You missed nothing. That’s the design.’”

The workflow incorporated the patient’s hearing test, eliminated the need for a separate Sensogram, and moved rapidly through calibration. Once calibration was complete, Kim had a strong starting point and could focus adjustments on the patient’s feedback.

Lauren saw the same advantage while training new audiologists at her practice. Compass Cloud presents tools with clear, intuitive names, helping newer HCPs understand the workflow and gain confidence. Its calibration process also brings fittings close to real-ear targets early in the appointment, reducing extensive manual fine-tuning.

“We can confirm audibility, make the changes the patient needs, and keep the appointment moving,” Lauren said. “The software feels comfortable to use, and that’s critical when every minute counts.”

Continuous Updates That Reflect Clinical Feedback

Their confidence deepened as Compass Cloud evolved. Early in the rollout, Lauren and Kim missed certain functionality that they valued, including Sound Class Adjustments and expanded Data Logging. They shared that feedback with their Widex representative and watched those capabilities return through subsequent releases.

“We shared feedback with our Widex representative and soon saw those features roll out,” Lauren said. “That made a real impression.”

The platform’s initially streamlined controls also strengthened Lauren’s counseling. She spent more time setting realistic expectations before deciding whether changes were needed. As Compass Cloud 2.0 expanded the platform, she gained additional fine-tuning flexibility while preserving that approach.

For Kim, every update adds value to the patient’s investment. She can explain that the platform will continue to improve, giving patients confidence that their care can evolve with their needs.

Automatic Updates Protect the Appointment

Compass Cloud has changed how their offices manage software. Updates are delivered automatically, reducing the time HCPs spend checking computers, installing software, or waiting through firmware processes.

“In a busy practice, an unexpected update can affect the entire schedule,” Lauren explained. “With Compass Cloud, updates are fast and automatic. I can dedicate the appointment to the patient while the software stays current in the background.”

Cloud access has also helped when a local server or NOAH connection is unavailable. With internet access, Lauren and Kim can reach the fitting information they need and continue caring for the patient. That reliability is especially important for older adults who may find another trip to the office difficult.

Greater Confidence and Better Clinical Decisions

Compass Cloud’s calibration tools give Kim added assurance because real-ear equipment is not available in her office. Hearing Lauren confirm how closely the calibration aligns with real-ear targets strengthened Kim’s confidence that patients leave with appropriate amplification.

Expanded Data Logging provides another layer of insight. Patients may describe their routines as quiet, while the data reveals regular time in social, urban, or other complex listening environments. Lauren uses that information to select programs that reflect the patient’s life and discuss whether another Widex technology level may better support their needs.

Kim recalls one patient in a nursing community who described herself as inactive, while her data showed frequent participation in groups, clubs, and social events.

“That information helps us counsel patients using their own experience,” Lauren said. “We can show them where they spend their time and make decisions that fit the life they are actually living.”

Widex Allure Brings the Fitting to Life

Their experience with Widex Allure™ hearing aids reinforces the value of the platform. Patients commonly describe the sound as clearer and more natural, including experienced Widex wearers moving into Allure. Lauren also hears that patients need fewer manual app adjustments because the hearing aids respond effectively across changing environments.

Kim remembers an early Allure patient with mild hearing loss who had struggled to follow conversations at a favorite bar. After receiving her hearing aids, she returned and shared that she could participate in the conversation and understand the people around her.

For Kim and Lauren, that outcome captures the purpose behind Compass Cloud: an efficient, precise fitting experience that gives clinicians more time to listen and helps patients remain engaged in the moments that matter.

“Compass Cloud has become something we truly value,” Kim said. “It helps us work efficiently, keeps improving, and gives us confidence in the care we provide.”

Lauren agreed. “It lets us spend our time where it belongs – with the patient.”
