Compass Cloud™ 2.0:
Best of Both Worlds

For Hannah L. Nixon, Au.D., CCC-A, ABAC, CH-TM, hearing care has always been about putting patients first. At Valley ENT Associates in Guntersville, Alabama, Nixon has developed a patient-centered hearing aid trial experience that lets individuals evaluate hearing aids in their everyday lives before making a purchase. The approach has helped create more confident, satisfied patients while giving Nixon the flexibility to personalize every fitting.

As a longtime Widex provider, Nixon has spent nearly a decade fitting patients with Widex hearing aids and has become deeply familiar with the company's fitting software. While she appreciated the streamlined approach of the original Compass Cloud™ platform, she found herself hoping for the return of some of the advanced fitting capabilities available in the previous fitting software.

"Compass Cloud 1.0 made the fitting process simpler, but I missed having some of the additional customization options I'd become accustomed to," Nixon said. "Every patient is different, and I wanted more flexibility to personalize fittings. With Compass Cloud 2.0, Widex really listened to clinicians and brought back many of the tools we rely on."

More Flexibility for Personalized Fittings

Among Nixon's favorite additions is SmartSpeak, which replaces traditional tonal alerts with spoken notifications for program changes and battery status.

"So many of my patients are already trying to remember a lot of information," she explained. "Instead of memorizing what different beeps mean, they hear spoken prompts like 'right ready,' 'left ready,' or 'battery low.' It's a much simpler experience for them."

She also values the return of Sound Class Adjustments, which allow her to fine-tune hearing aid performance for specific listening environments.

"Now I can make adjustments for transportation, urban environments, or party settings based on what each individual patient needs," Nixon said. "That level of personalization is incredibly important because hearing care is never one-size-fits-all."

Refining the Fitting Experience

Nixon has also seen the benefits of Compass Cloud 2.0's updated Adaptation Manager, which now uses percentage-based adjustments to help patients acclimate more comfortably to amplification.

"I've always appreciated how well patients accept Widex first fits," she said. "I rarely have to make major adjustments. Most of the time it's set, and then we simply make small refinements if someone needs a little more support."

She also appreciates the return of additional personalization tools – including Allure Sensogram, customizable program management, and expanded fitting controls – which give her greater flexibility to tailor fittings to individual patients.

An Evolution Shaped by Clinician Feedback

For Nixon, one of the biggest differences in Compass Cloud 2.0 is seeing clinician feedback reflected in the platform's evolution.

"I would absolutely recommend Compass Cloud 2.0 to another clinician," she said. "Widex listened to the feedback and brought back so many of the features clinicians wanted. At the end of the day, it's about delivering outstanding sound quality while giving us the flexibility to fit each patient as an individual."

That combination of sound quality and fitting flexibility has reinforced Nixon's confidence in the platform over the years.

"I've trusted Widex throughout my career because of the quality," Nixon said. "My patients accept the sound extremely well, and that's ultimately what matters most."
