Effect of sound therapy on whole scalp oscillatory brain activity and distress in chronic tinnitus patients

By: Mie Lærkegård Jørgensen, Petteri Hyvärinen, Sueli Caporali, and Torsten Dau

Published on Frontiers, August 29, 2023

This study investigated the relation between sound therapy for tinnitus patients and the oscillatory brain activity. Although the data do not support changes in so-called gamma activity as a relevant biomarker of tinnitus-related distress, the study does show the benefits of using fractal tones for tinnitus treatment. Sixteen out of 20 participants showed improvements in tinnitus-related distress after two months of sound therapy with Widex fractal tones.

Hearing Aid Delay Effects on Neural Phase Locking

By: Mary Zhou, Roksana Soleimanpour, Aakriti Mahajan and Samira Anderson

Published on Ear and Hearing. July 12, 2023

This study investigates the correlation between the speech stimuli that people are hearing and their brain response. This is called stimulus-to-response (STR) correlation and is significantly stronger for the 0.5 ms signal processing delay in Widex PureSound compared to competitors with longer delays. The study outlines a range of possible benefits of a stronger STR correlation, including lower listening effort and better speech-in-noise performance. It also argues that the brain signals that they are measuring may be seen as an objective measure of sound quality.

Ask the experts: How fitting Widex improves the Hearing Care Professional's clinical experience

By: Dana Helmink, AuD and Jodi Sasaki-Miraglia, AuD

WidexPress 50, July 2023

This article reports on a survey of 246 HCPs which shows a range of advantages for Widex compared to the other main brands in the industry in terms of running an efficient hearing care practice and helping more people hear. With a lower return rate and fewer follow-ups, the HCP who fits Widex can waste less time on unsuccessful fittings and use that time to help other potential hearing aid wearers. The survey also shows high satisfaction with several unique Widex features, and the article explains how these may be useful for different types of hearing aid wearers.

By: Laura Winther Balling, Sueli Caporali, Daniel Parker, Anne Mette Jeppesen, and Dana Helmink

Published in Hearing Review, February 2023

This article from Hearing Review shows the positive effects of Widex SoundRelax on tinnitus. Like the previous generation of fractal tones (Widex Zen), use of Widex SoundRelax is associated with significant improvements in tinnitus severity. The article reports the results of an ongoing longitudinal study that shows that tinnitus severity is reduced for people listening to these sounds. Together with previous evidence, this shows Widex SoundRelax to be a strong option for tinnitus treatment, as well as support for relaxation, concentration, and well-being for all users.
