There are no issues in shipping the hearing aid by Road (ADR). Dangerous Good labeling is not required and there are no Dangerous Goods fees or weight limitations when shipping by road.

There are no issues in shipping the hearing aid by Air (IATA). Dangerous Good labeling is not required and there are no Dangerous Goods fees or weight limitations when shipping by air.

RETURNING DAMAGED LITHIUM-ION BATTERY HEARING AIDS

Undamaged lithium-ion batteries can be returned as normal by road or air. But if a battery appears to be damaged (ruptured, swollen, leaking – or has other visible damage) then the hearing aid must only be shipped by road, never by air.

You must therefore carefully check that the package does not show signs of inflated batteries, has no apparent leakage, and that the battery does not develop heat on its own or is hot when touched.

DISPOSING OF LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES

You can dispose of the lithium-ion batteries in accordance with your local laws and regulations.
