WIDEX ZEN
PROVEN TINNITUS SUPPORT, LED BY YOU

A modernised Zen program for the Widex Allure platform with proven fractal sound stimulation, personalised in Widex Compass Cloud, and extended into daily life through the Widex Allure app. For decades, Widex has developed tinnitus sound stimulation solutions based on the science of fractal tones. On Widex Allure, that proven approach is easier to discover in the fitting workflow, easier to demo and personalise, and easier for wearers to keep close between appointments.

PROVEN SUPPORT FOR TINNITUS PATIENTS

WHY ZEN MATTERS

Sound stimulation with Zen fractal styles is associated with clinically meaningful improvements in tinnitus distress. In a one-year longitudinal study of adults with chronic tinnitus using a Widex combination device with self-selected Zen sound-therapy styles, tinnitus-related distress improved and stabilised within the first months of use.¹ ²

RESULTS FROM THIS STUDY SHOWED

12-point mean reduction in THI at six months¹

32% reduction in tinnitus distress¹ ²

Sound therapy with Zen therapy styles leads to a 12-point mean reduction in the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) at six months.¹

Sound therapy with Zen therapy styles leads to a 32% reduction in tinnitus distress.²

HOW ZEN WORKS

THE SCIENCE OF FRACTAL SOUND STIMULATION

Zen styles are built on fractal mathematics. The result is a set of smooth, non-repeating tones that feel comforting and familiar, yet unpredictable enough to gently engage the brain without demanding active listening. That combination allows Zen to become part of a wearer's everyday listening experience, providing sound stimulation designed to fit naturally into everyday listening.

FRACTAL MATHEMATICS

Widex fractal tones are semi-randomly generated musical-like sounds. Their spectrum and level are shaped to the wearer's in-situ hearing loss so the stimulation feels natural and comfortable across the day.

PERSONALISED IN WIDEX COMPASS CLOUD
On Widex Allure, Zen is added directly from the program bar. HCPs can demo styles through the hearing aid, exchange them, and fine-tune each program with balance handles and a 15-band equaliser.

EXTENDED IN THE WIDEX ALLURE APP

Once a Zen program is fitted, wearers can revisit the styles at home, adjust therapy signal volume, and access clear tinnitus and Zen information from the app’s HELP menu enabling support that continues between appointments.

EXPLORE THE ZEN SOUND LIBRARY

Widex Zen includes 14 sound styles across four categories: Fractal, Nature, Noise, and Combination. This broad range of sound experiences supports a personalised approach to tinnitus care, making it easier to explore options, demonstrate styles, and tailor support to individual wearer preferences. For the best listening experience, use headphones and begin at a low, comfortable volume. Demonstration sample only. In a hearing aid fitting, Zen sounds are shaped to the wearer's hearing loss and may be further fine-tuned. The sound heard through hearing aids may therefore differ from this sample.

WIDEX TINNITUS SOLUTIONS ECOSYSTEM

BEYOND A LISTENING PROGRAM - CONNECTED SERVICES FOR INDIVIDUALISED TINNITUS SUPPORT

Widex Zen sits inside a broader Widex Tinnitus Solutions offering. As a hearing care professional, you can draw from any combination of the three tools, depending on the wearer's needs.

WIDEX COMPASS CLOUD: Create and personalise Zen programs directly in the Allure fitting workflow, with an expanded range of Zen sound styles and fitting flexibility.

WIDEX ALLURE APP: Extend support beyond the fitting session with in-app Zen program controls, therapy signal volume adjustment, and learning topics about tinnitus in the Help menu.

ONLINE TINNITUS COUNSELING TOOL: Structure the tinnitus conversation with talking points and illustrations that help make key concepts easier to explain. Available at one.wsa.com.

A SIMPLE STARTING POINT

CHOOSE → LISTEN → PERSONALISE

Rather than thinking about the Zen library as a list of options, think of it as a range of sound experiences to explore with the wearer. When multiple Zen programs are added in Compass Cloud, each defaults to a different category, giving the wearer variety without requiring a full library walkthrough in the first appointment.

Step 1 → CHOOSE: Select a style as a starting point.

Step 2 → LISTEN: Let the wearer experience it through their hearing aids.

Step 3 → PERSONALISE: Use the wearer's immediate response and preference to guide the next adjustment.

TRUST THE EVIDENCE

WIDEX ZEN IS GROUNDED IN PEER-REVIEWED CLINICAL RESEARCH ON SOUND STIMULATION WITH FRACTAL TONES.
1, 2 → Data from Lelic et al. (2024) Frontiers in Audiology and Otology. Benefits reported by tinnitus patients using self-selected Zen sound therapy styles on Moment devices.

FAQs

Zen is built on fractal mathematics, using semi-randomly generated musical-like tones with harmonic but unpredictable sequences. They are designed to be pleasant and relaxing without becoming familiar melodies that the listener remembers, encouraging a more passive, non-intrusive listening experience.

The 14 Zen styles that are available are grouped into four categories: Fractal, Nature, Noise, and Combination. Each category provides a different type of listening experience, offering flexibility to support individual wearer preferences.

There is no single correct starting point. A practical approach is to select a style, let the wearer experience it through their hearing aid, and use their response to guide personalisation. When multiple Zen programs are added in Compass Cloud, each program defaults to a different category, starting with fractal, followed by combination, and then nature. This gives the wearer variety without requiring a lengthy fitting session.

Yes. In Widex Compass Cloud, Zen styles can be demonstrated, exchanged, and fine-tuned using balance handles and a 15-band equaliser for each program. Wearers can also adjust therapy signal volume between appointments using the Widex Allure app.

Widex approaches tinnitus management by first restoring the natural listening environment through amplification, then adding therapeutic sound support when additional intervention is clinically appropriate. Zen forms one part of an individualised care plan and is not positioned as either a cure or a starting point for every wearer.

Once a Zen program has been fitted, the Help menu in the Widex Allure app provides learning sections covering tinnitus, how Zen programs are intended to be used, and how to switch styles, adjust volume, or control microphone settings.
