WHY DOES PURESOUND SOUND SO NATURAL?

We hear from users that one of the things that makes PureSound so natural is that the space around them feels right, with a rich and open sound. This experience is reflected in survey data, where 95% of wearers indicate that, with PureSound, they have the impression of sounds being exactly where they would expect them to be.

In a new scientific study, we have demonstrated that this experience, can be attributed to the fact that PureSound allows for truer acoustic reflections than standard-delay hearing aids. This contributes to the natural experience of the surroundings and enables listeners to identify listening positions more accurately.

ZERODELAY - THE POWER BEHIND PURESOUND

Widex PureSound is delivered by the alternate and independent, industry changing, ultra-fast ZeroDelay pathway. This technology reduces the processing delay between microphone and receiver to below 0.5 milliseconds – crushing industry standards – and combines the input from all key components into one pure, seamless sound experience.

ELIMINATING THE “HEARING AID SOUND”

PureSound™ was created to address one of the most common barriers for hearing aid users to adapt to new devices: they sound artificial. That’s because with many hearing aids when direct sound enters the ear canal through or around an instant ear-tip, it combines with sound from the hearing aid. The timing difference between the direct sound and the hearing aid sound produces a distortion, known as the comb-filter effect that wearers describe as “artificial,” “tinny,” or “like a hearing aid.”

Widex PureSound™ processes sound 8-20 times faster than other digital hearing aids, shattering industry standards and eradicating the comb-filter effect. The result is a more natural sound. 

PROVEN TO BE PURE

In a study of sound quality in real-life situations/scenarios, all participants with normal hearing and 85% of those with hearing loss preferred Widex PureSound™ 

  • For each of 20 individual scenarios/situations, the majority of preferences were for PureSound. 
  • For individual situations/scenarios, there were more than three times as many PureSound preferences as standard delay preferences.

PureSound™ means proven sound quality without compromising on speech understanding in noise. When researchers looked into how the brain perceives PureSound, they saw that it comes incredibly close to the original signal. In other words, a hearing aid with PureSound doesn’t sound like a hearing aid. It sounds like real life.
