"YOU CAN ENTER THE SOUND THROUGH THE EAR"

IDA RIEGELS

AWARD-WINNING CELLIST AND COMPOSER

Sound is at the center of everything Ida does. Without sound, there would be no music. And without music, Ida wouldn’t be cycling across Europe performing cello concerts. Here’s what Ida has to say about PureSound, the essence of the Widex sound philosophy.

MEET IDA

After graduating from Denmark’s Royal Academy of Music, Ida became known as the “cycling cellist” who has pedaled 400km with her handmade cello on her back to deliver concerts throughout Europe. She recently released her debut album, “Cello Stories”, on Danacord Records.

According to Ida, the cello “tells everything that can’t be said with words.
Ida doesn’t just play the cello – she also makes cellos.
“With PureSound my cello sounds exactly like my cello,” says Ida.

THE CYCLING CELLIST

After intensely studying for several years, Ida felt the need to go out into the world and share her passion with others. Since then, she has biked throughout Europe with her cello on her back and frequent stops to perform.

A DIFFERENT WORLD

When Ida first tried Widex hearing aids, she says she almost didn’t feel that they were there. “But you hear it,” she says, noting a good balance between high and low registers. “It’s a different world. . . a completely different world.”

HOMEGROWN SOUND

Ida grew up in a home with several types of instruments, but it was the cello that she fell in love with. For Ida, music isn’t just sound – it's what’s happening inside the musician. “There might be 1,000 words in a picture, but there’s a million in a melody,” she says.
